PC Basics

PC Literacy.  Introduces new users to basic computer concepts and covers such fundamentals as hardware, software, mouse and keyboard usage. Participants gain a solid foundation in using Windows and learn to navigate the Internet. Basic word processing topics are covered including creating, editing, printing and saving documents.

Windows Essentials. Topics include navigating the Windows environment, controlling program Windows, multi-tasking, using Help, customizing setting, organizing data, creating folders, managing files, moving, coping, renaming and deleting files, using the Recycle bin and searching for files and folders..

Using The Internet.  Topics include browsing Websites, using the Address Bar, using Favorites, managing the Favorites list, setting Internet options, searching for information, downloading files

MS Outlook. Topics include composing, sending and replying to e-mail messages, setting message options, setting Outlook options, tracking messages, using templates and drafts, organizing messages, sending message attachments, using contacts, scheduling appointments and recurring events, managing and assigning tasks, and using the Plan a Meeting feature.

Getting Started with E-Mail.  This class introduces new users to basic computer concepts and covers such fundamentals as hardware, software, and mouse and keyboard usage. Word Processing

Word Introduction.   Topics include creating and editing documents, formatting text, setting tabs, indenting, alignment, line spacing, bullets, numbering, spell check, thesaurus, find, replace, page setup, page numbering, basic headers and footers, cut, copy, paste, and working with multiple documents.

Word Intermediate.  Topics include Format Painter, AutoText, AutoCorrect, tables, borders, shading, document templates, hyperlinks, section breaks, advanced headers and footers, creating and formatting columns, and inserting and formatting graphics.

Word Advanced.  Topics include advanced formatting techniques, document protection, watermarks, change tracking, reviewing, document routing, versions, footnotes, macros, importing data, exporting data, mail merge, tables of contents, indexes, cross references, forms, and master documents.return



Presentation Graphics

Powerpoint Introduction.  Topics include working with views, text slides, formatting text, using drawing tools, aligning objects, grouping, ordering, inserting and manipulating graphics, adding bar, line and pie charts, organization charts, applying design templates, adding transitions and timings, using notes pages and printing handouts.

Powerpoint Advanced.  Topics include creating custom templates, using masters, working with scanned, digital and Web graphics, adding sounds and multi-media, animation effects, integrating with other Office applications, managing links, building interactive presentations, using hyperlinks and action buttons, and creating custom shows.  return



Publication Graphics & Design

Adobe Photoshop Introduction.  Topics include navigating the work area, selecting appropriate resolution, using the Lasso, Marquee, and Magic Wand tools, using alpha channels, creating and manipulating layers, applying blends, layer effects, transparency, gradients, adding and formatting type, enhancing and repairing photos.

Adobe Photoshop Advanced.  Topics include painting and blending techniques, creating custom brushes, using the pen tool, creating vector shapes and clipping paths, creating custom swatches, gradients, shapes, and patterns, using advanced layer techniques, using filters and balancing color, creating special effects and optimizing images for the Web and for printed publications.

Photoshop Elements.  Why settle for a second-rate photo when so many imperfections can be easily fixed? Learn how to fix common problems like red eye, bad lighting, distracting elements, undesirable color shift, glare, dust and scratches, harsh shadows, and more!

Microsoft Publisher.  Topics include adding text to a publication, adding graphics, formatting and wrapping text, importing, connecting text frames, aligning objects, us ing backgrounds, creating tables, using styles, formatting frames, and using the Design Gallery.  return



Database

Access Introduction.  This course is designed to provide a practical application of relational database concepts. Topics include database design, creating fields in tables, choosing data type, setting properties, identifying a primary key, creating table relationships, working in datasheet view, designing basic forms, formatting form controls, combo boxes, sorting, setting criteria in queries, using AND, OR, NOT, and NULL, multi-table queries, parameter queries, designing list reports and grouped reports.

Access Intermediate.  Topics include database design, filtering data, validating data integrity, input masks, table lookups, value lists, forms with subforms, form properties, editing subforms, creating text strings, action queries, sorting and grouping in reports, OLE object fields, inserting OLE objects, using command buttons and creating switchboard forms.

Access Advanced.  Topics include joins, indexes, summary queries, crosstab queries, calculating controls, calculating values from subform controls, report controls, data integration, importing, exporting, linking, hyperlink fields, hyperlinks in forms, dialog boxes, automating with macros and conditional macros.

Mastering Quickbooks.  Learn how to use QuickBooks to effectively manage your company’s day to day bookkeeping activities. Topics include setting up the company, creating and editing a chart of accounts, setting up products and services, creating invoices and receipts, tracking and processing payments, working with bank accounts, tracking and paying bills, sales tax, tracking loans, creating standard and customized reports, working with payroll, and job costing time and materials.  return



Spreadsheet Development

Excel Introduction.  Topics include navigating the work area, entering and editing data, formulas, functions, AutoSum, Paste Function, cut, copy, paste, AutoFill, formatting cells, setting print area, headers, footers, page setup, freezing panes, organizing workbooks, creating and formatting chart sheets and embedded charts.

Excel Intermediate.  Topics include creating custom templates, using styles, linking formulas, using AutoFill, using 3-D references, using absolute references, using named ranges, filtering, sorting, and hyperlinks.

Excel Advanced.  Topics include advanced functions, recording macros, linking workbooks, linking to other Office applications, data validation, data analysis tools, Pivot tables, conditional formatting, data tables, database functions, comments, change tracking, merging workbooks, scenarios, and using auditing tools

Excel Formulas & Functions.  This class targets Excel users seeking real-world examples of how to use the powerful functions built into Excel. Topics include structuring a formula, financial functions, date/time functions, lookup, logical and reference functions, and database functions.  return



Building PC's & Troubleshooting

PC Repair Introduction. Topics include identifying basic computer parts, overview of breaking down a component, assemble PC with step-by-step instructions, diagnose and troubleshoot PC, install software applications, diagnose and troubleshoot BIOS, hardware and/or software.  return



Specialty Courses

Digital Cameras.  Topics include the main components of a digital camera, other components, using the camera, shutter button, mode dial, flash button, trash button, focusing range button and metering modes.

Keyboard Shortcuts.  Topics include using the keyboard to navigate through confusing menus. Learning the shortcuts can save you time and clicks, since you can do things from the keyboard while typing without needing to move your fingers to the mouse!

Photos & Music.   Topics include turning all your still pictures into a dynamic slideshow along with music files, creating a digital photo album, video files and burn them to CD or DVD.  Create screensavers.  Use fade effects to make pictures come to life

Toolbars.  Topics include using a horizontal or vertical bar which displays buttons that are commonly used as shortcuts for many other most common menu commands, including the multiple types of toolbars which exists in various applications.

Files & Printing.  Topics include using files and folders to print all, some or one page of a document, web pages, pdf documents, a range of pages, etc., using multiple applications.

Tips & Tricks.  Topics include general computer tips for Windows, Windows Operating Systems, Internet Explorer, etc., useful software information, and resources on keeping computer running smoothly.

Mastering Vista/Windows 7.  Topics include learning what's new in Windows Vista, what features are the best, and why you may want to upgrade. When possible, you'll also learn tips to achieve a similar effect in Windows XP.  return
